Customer Reviews

Stick with the colored ones.Since getting into swimming 2 1/2 years ago, I went on a quest to find the right clip. Seriously, it all depends on the shape of your nose. I ordered several, and ended up with this TYR model. It doesn't pinch my nose to pain, tends to stay on pretty good. Stick with the colored ones. The white one discolors way before you need to change it out. 5The jokes on me.Here is what I am looking for in a nose clip.1. Stay put2. Be comfortable3. Stay on my nose.4. If it does insist on falling off, be easy to find.5. Don't fall off. Here is my experience. Day One, Lap One: Clips fell off. Day One, Lap Two: Clips pop off. Day One between Lap Two and Three, I put the clips away in a safe place and resolved to used strong soap to remove any trace of oil from my nose. Now up to this point I had gone for six decades with out any hint that I was suffering from any excessive nose oil. And... I am blessed with a wife who notices such things. I mean, let my nose hair get the least bit excessive and I'll hear about it in no uncertain terms. So, I had always felt fairly certain that the relative oiliness of my nose was well within the norms established by wives everywhere for this sort of thing. But after just two laps, I was convinced that no one in their right mind would design a clip that would squirt off a nose with such vigor. And, since mine had fairly lept from my own schnoz, the only rational explanation was that I was suffering from an acute and severe case of excessive nose oil. Not to worry, I had a plan.Day Two: Not wanting any hint of oil between those clips and my nose, I washed and dried my snout thoroughly before applying the clips and entering the water. As I started my fist lap in the shallow end of the pool, things seemed to be going better than the day before. Yes, the clips did seem to be a little antsy, like they were not convinced that being on my nose and in the water at the same time was really such a good idea, but I had already swam 25 meter father than the day before and they had not yet tried to escape. Then, I made the turn at the deep end, and those little suckers made there move, and just launched themselves from my face with all the energy they could muster. With matching zest I lunged for them as they dropped precipitously though the first couple of feet of pool water on their way to the bottom, ten feet below. But here is where these escape artist really began to show their stuff. In a mere 18 inches these bugger became invisible. So I asked myself, "Who would ever have guessed that clear plastic clips would be so hard to spot in a pool?" Maybe it was the same guy who designed the nose-a-phobic clips in the first place. Yes, that was the conclusion I came to. Surely this had all just been a four dollar joke on me. I only wish I had given these as a gift to someone I did not really like. Then I think I could truly have enjoyed the sick genius of the person who designed a novelty as amusing as these jumping/disappearing clips. 1Best fit, but keeps breakingThis style is my daughters favorite style of nose clip. She is 12 and swims five days a week. For that I would give it 4 stars, but the fact that they break so easily...we go through 2 a month...gives me hesitation to review it positively. Will be trying some different ones in hopes they fit and are durable. 2My 10yr old's favoriteMy 10yr old LOVES to swim, but hates water in his nose, so nose plugs are a must for summer and swim team. We've tried 3-4 different brands and styles and this is by far his favorite. They are the most comfortable for him and I think they're more durable than most. I wish they were a little less pricey because boys lose things, but overall very happy. 5Great Day to Day FunctionalityCan not swim without them. If you are allergic to chlorine or have water up the nose problems, these clips are easy to get use to and do the job. However, though I wash an rinse after every use, the clips became brittle and broke within a year. Since clips are inexpensive, not a bad trade-off for the day to day excellent functionality. 5Decent noseclip with good quality but know what you need from a noseclip before you buyThis noseclip is not for everyone. My daughter does synchronized swimming and this is one of her preferred nose clips, but it wasn't her favorite a few years ago when she was younger (and smaller). There are some factors that people should keep in mind before buying this (or any) noseclip.1. Size--this product is best for older kids and adults. It is not adjustable so it will be too big for small kids. If you have a large, broad nose, it might be uncomfortable after a long swim session.2. Padding/materials--the nosepads on this are comfortable and durable. They won't crack but can peel off. If you put sunscreen on your nose, the pads will get too slippery. My daughter applies the sunscreen after the noseclip. The plastic frame won't warp or get hot in the sun like metal frames, but if you need to adjust it, you won't be able to.3. Color--the clear is the cheapest (at the time I purchased these) but if it drops in the deep end of the pool, it'll be almost impossible to find. It's great for my daughter's syncho so she doesn't look like Rudolph the reindeer but she only wears the clear ones for the show. All other times she uses the colored ones (and some stores have a cheaper price so look around). It's nice to have a few colors because her teammates borrow her noseclips and she can identify them easily. 4Don't BotherI recently developed an allergy to the chemicals in pool water (I tried two pools). This is after swimming regularly for decades. I usually swim about a mile. Just for information, one might say my nose is prominent, although not very large.I read prior reviews and decided to try these clips and the Speed Competition nose clip. These were fine when I tried them on at home and appeared to be much more comfortable than the Speedo's. Unfortunately, the TYR clips would not stay on my nose in the water. I could not swim one full lap. The Speedo's were tight - perhaps too tight although stayed on and only need to be adjusted for each 1/4 mile of my swim. I will rate those shortly to see if I can adjust the Speedo clips.I usually prefer the TYR brand (swim trunks and googles) but these did not cut it. 1Worked well for meI bought this to practice backstroke swimming as I cannot tolerate the water going down my nose. Feels like a high dose wasabi hit my nose!I reviewing several products reviews I decided that the clips were not at fault. It seems its people's nose sizes. If you have a flat nose I am pretty sure it would not a be a good fit for anyone. Also getting the facial oil off your face before going for a swim practice may help keep this in place. For me this product has really worked well. It does not come off my nose and does not let water get in my nose. When I am doing free style I just wear it like a ring on my pinky finger so that I don't lose this at the pool bottom. 5Nice fit but doesn't stay in placeI purchased this to use while lap swimming at the gym. It fits nice and feels comfortable on, but tends to shift as you swim. This causes water to eventually get in your nose. It is probably ok if you swim one lap at a time and can adjust it after each lap. Since I swim multiple laps between breaks, I only used it a few times and just keep it around as a backup. 3but it wasn't his favorite a few years ago when he was younger and ...This noseclip is not for everyone, but works perfectly for me and my wife. My son does kayaking and this is one of his preferred nose clips, but it wasn't his favorite a few years ago when he was younger and smaller. There are some factors that people should keep in mind before buying this (or any) noseclip.1. All other times we use the colored ones (and some stores have a cheaper price so look around). It's nice to have a few colors because her teammates borrow her noseclips and she can identify them easily. When I purchase these I bought about a dozen of them thinking I would probably loose some of them. I haven't lost one yet. I have given several pair away to friends and family and they all love them. 5
