    Great hat, careless packagingThis is my second LTM6 Tilley hat. I had my first one almost 11 years before I somehow managed to loose it on a recent trip. Like loosing touch with an old friend that I shared many adventures with. I hope someone found it continues to use it. My new one seems just as nice as my old one. It seems like it is constructed a little bit differently but made just as well. I hope my new one serves me just as long or longer as my old hat. I'm sure it will function just as well keeping the sun off of my head and keeping me cool. I am disappointed in the packaging for shipping. My new hat was rather carelessly stuffed into a shipping envelope and has a few light creases on the brim that I hope will settle out. If I didn't need it this weekend for an all day outdoor event I'd probably return it. I think if you drop close to $100 on basically a sun hat they could put it in a box. I'm not deducting any stars because it's still a great hat. It was just carelessly packed. The envelope would probably still be fine if they'd have gottenit in flat (it was a large enough envelope). After all, that's how I used to pack my old one. Flatten it out and lay it in the top of my luggage. Worked for 11 years. 5Perfect hat for Death ValleyI just spent three day in Death Valley, and this hat was the perfect companion. At first, I was put off by Tilley's recommendation that the hat fit snugly, preferring a bit looser fit, but the snug fit meant no sweat fell onto my face until after I took the hat off. The airflo holes do allow some cooling wind in though, if we were in the shade, it was cooler to take the hat off entirely.The hat offers great protection. While my arms burned, no part of my head got sunburned except a bit of my neck I missed while applying sunscreen. The brim kept the sun out of my eyes and could be used to shield me from the occasional gust of wind or dust.The chin strap works well even if it isn't super tight. Our first day had gusts of wind up to 50 miles per hour, and my hat stayed on without worry. While hiking canyons, I loosened the strap so I could easily slip the hat off and on as we darted in and out of shade. While off, the hat sat behind my head, keeping my hands free for water, camera, etc.Bottom line, great hat for hiking and other outdoor activities. 5They ruined the brimThey ruined the brim by folding this hat into a 6 inch square for shipping. Great hat but they ruined it. Totally irreparably broke it down. I could not believe it. Buy it at REI if you can find your size. The brim is firm and nice shape. 1Followed sizing instructions and what I got was 2 sizes too small!!Hard to rate this product because I really like the hat. Sadly, using the sizing instructions got me a hat two sizes too small. Ended up going to REI to purchase the same hat where I could actually try them on. Gave the hat I ordered via Amazon to my wife. So, the 3 star rating is more for the lack of good instructions choosing the size. The hat, the one that fits that I bought at REI, is actually amazing! 3Well made hat by Tilley BUT shipping by third party was a problemFirst, the Tilley Endurables LTM6 Airflo Hat is outstanding! It is a quality product. I ordered size 7.375 from Amazon after the 7 1/4 was too small and tight on my head so you need to order a larger size than you usually wear.Second, the first hat was packed by Zappos in a correctly sized box for the hat and arrived in perfect condition but had to be returned to Amazon because the size was too small. I next ordered a larger sized Tilley hat from Amazon which was packed by Webyshops and it arrived folded up and jammed in a regular mailing envelop (see the photo above)! The folded hat had four creases or folds in the brim and the top of the hat was crushed. 4Pricey but good hatI'm a first time Tilley hat user but so far I really like this hat. The olive color doesn't show sweat stains that easily and the wide brim helps protect my face and neck. Since I've had multiple surgeries for skin cancer around those areas having a hat that provides good protection is important. I will say one thing about the fit. I used the instructions on the Tilley website to determine my hat size. When I measured my head, it said I needed a 7-1/2 hat size, which is what I ordered. When it came in, while I could get it on it was too tight, to the point of being uncomfortable. So I re-measured, and ordered a 7-3/4, which fits well. The tag on the hat said it should fit loose and that proper fit would allow two fingers to fit inside between the hat and your head. So I suggest if you need to measure for your proper hat size, place your index finger and 2nd finger flat against your forehead and then measure around your head and your fingers. Or if you prefer to not use that, don't pull the cloth measuring tape or string, whichever you're using, tight. Keep it somewhat loose and use that measurement. Hope this helps. 5Disappointing qualityWe have ordered many Tilley hats and they were all sturdy, durable and fit well. This hat was made of a flimsy fabric, not canvas, not sturdy and since it was packed in a small flat box arrived severely wrinkled and wouldn't return to its original state. This is very disappointing. It is not an inexpensive hat and I expected the Tilley quality of the past. 1Great hat!This hat is great! I never wear hats, but being outside in the FL sun I need some protection. Have gone sailing with it, worked in the yard, gone hiking in the mountains of Kauai, it's been everywhere with me. Tighten it down and it stays put, even through some very windy days! I have gotten multiple compliments on the khaki / green combo.I am a big guy and the 8+ fit me fine. It breathes well, has taken a beating, covered in saltwater, sweat, dirt, etc. It keeps on performing. Thank you Tilley hat, for showing me that hats are awesome!(Doofy picture included in customer pics!) 5Little on the pricey side but it works.Hey pretty out rages price for a hat, but it does do the job. I think this is my third or fourth purchase. This one, however, seems to suffer from brim droop in the front that is quite annoying. The hat needs to be washer frequently as the nylon fabric retains sweat odor all too well. But it washes easily and dries quickly. I wish they had a better means of using the strap. 99% of the time it s not required, but when the wind blows you want something that secure and easy to don. In this regard, it s not perfect. 4Amazing hat but be careful you who buy fromThere is no better hat in the marketplace than this Tilley hat. And once I finally got the size right and a hat that wasn't damaged by the seller, I became Tilley's #1 fan. Let's talk about it.Size: The instructions say that for a properly-fitting hat, you must be able to get two fingers between the forehead and the headband. I started with a size 7-3/8 and worked up to a 7.75. I could still not get two fingers between my forehead and the headband. So I finally called Tilley. I told them I can get two fingers all the way around that hat except for the front of my head. I said the hat already about touches my ears, how much bigger do I need to go? She said people's heads are different shapes and the two-finger rule apparently doesn't apply to all. She asked me if I could turn the hat without much friction and I said I could. She said if I was comfortable with the fit, my hat was fine despite the two-finger rule.I then told the gal at Tilley's that I ordered the hat from Amazon and it came all scrunched up in a bag and the brim appears to be damaged. I asked if the brim would bounce back. She said no. The wires inside that brim were probably permanently damaged. I told her that I'm not blaming Amazon for the hat coming scrunched up in a bag. I too am a seller on Amazon, and the blame needs to squarely rest with the seller sending these hats to Amazon's warehouses (not Tilley's). That seller is scrunching these hats inside plastic bags to save space (Amazon charges sellers by the square inch for space). Sellers who provide Amazon with these hats need to provide them in boxes that protect the hat. And I have made Amazon aware of this by giving that seller a 1-star rating.So moral of the story is to check the rating of the seller before buying this hat. This hat is great which you can read in all the other reviews. I did buy one of my smaller-sized hats where Amazon was the seller, and it arrived fine. When I tried replacing that hat with a larger size, Amazon as a seller was out of the hat so I picked another seller and disaster. 5
