Customer Reviews

Awesome bag!I read the reviews prior to purchasing and most of them were good so I went ahead and bought it and let me just say a few things. Firstly THIS IS NOT A BACKPACKING SLEEPING BAG. I ignored everyone who said this and paid the price dearly. I just got back from my trip hiking down the grand canyon and though there was many factors to why my body is hurting right now that was one of them. the sleeping bag is just too big and heavy and the XL size that my dad was carrying is worse. But if your like me and just wanted to save a few bucks or your car camping this sleeping bag is awesome for the money. It got down to about 30degrees and i was wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants and I was almost sweating. It couldve gotton lower and im sure i wouldve been just fine. ( I was sleeping on a sleeping pad and was in a tent so take that into consideration). As for the height situation I am about 5"6 and the sleeping bag fits great plus i even have room where the sleeping bag can go over my head a little. Now if your taller it still will fit but depending how much taller your head will be out the sleeping bag which is normal. I weigh about 160 and it fit just right it terms of width. If you exceed probably 180-200 you should probably consider the XL bag depending how snug is too snug for you. My dad is about 195ish 5"11 and he had gotten into my sleeping bag and fit however he likes more room hence why i bought the XL for him. As for the zipper situation yes it snags but honestly wasnt THAT BAD i wouldnt even be mentioning it if there wasnt so many complaints about it. The interior felt great however the inside is not connected to the sleeping bag so it moves if u toss and turn but again didnt bother me or my dad as much. Otherwise great sleeping bag all around this was my first one i ever bought and it was perfect i dont have anything to compare it too but for the money it did its job anyone who says other wise just recieved a faulty bag maybe or is just too picky. Great buy ! 5My first reaction when I took it out of the box? DAMN this thing is BIG!OK. Now that we've got that out of the way...let's just start from the beginning, shall we? This thing is big. That's what it is -- a Big. Warm. Inexpensive. And all in all pretty well made sleeping bag. (Although as another reviewer pointed out it would have made more sense to have the zipper go across the bottom so it could be opened up flat. That's why I deducted 1 star.) And not to belabor the point, but reading that this bag weighs 5 pounds is one thing; seeing it up close and personal is another. DAMN this thing is big. However, it DOES fit my Teton 75L pack in the upper outside strap down section underneath the main strap down area. (I haven't tried to fit it into the designated zippered "sleeping bag pouch" section because for me, where I have it now secured is more beneficial and allows me to use the designated sleeping bag zippered pouch for other items.)And in fairness, this is replacing a 35 degree Kelty Tuck, which weighs half as much and packs down much smaller. BUT...I need to add a 2 pound wool blanket to make the Kelty usable in really cold weather situations. So...when you factor that in, and the fact that I need 2 places in my pack for that combo -- one for the Kelty and another one for the blanket -- this bag does double duty and only weighs about 8 ounces more while only monopolizing one storage area, not two. (I'd previously kept the Kelty in the same area that I'll put the Teton.)Additionally, this bag is more comfortable for me than the Kelty, which is more of a mummy bag. In this Teton bag I can sleep on my stomach and have both arms/hands up near my head, rather than 1 by my head and 1 pinned down by my side like in the Kelty. (The pull cords for the neck collar and head section do tend to be a bit annoying but not terribly so.) I also prefer the functioning of the zipper on this bag to the one on the Kelty. That one ALWAYS gets hung up at various places. (It isn't so much that it snags any material; it just stops zipping. It's frustrating.) This one is pretty smooth, although if it's not zipped up all the way it tends to unzip itself by itself. Finally, if you fold this bag in half width-wise, then fold it in half length-wise, lay on it, then start from the non-corded end to stuff it intelligently into the compression sack, it's relatively easy to get this sucker neatly back into the sack without doing any damage to the bag or the compression sack. (And taking it out of the compression sack for the first time, the bag fluffed right up almost immediately. That was nice.)So to recap: Yes. This bag is big. It is NOT a super expensive lofty goose down bag that compresses down to the size of a Coke can. However, for what it IS...a relatively big, somewhat heavy, comfortable, warm, non-down sleeping bag...it's pretty damn good. (As well as being pretty damn big.) In my mind I compare this more to the old Coleman sleeping bags. In that regard, I think this is better, although a lot of folks love those Coleman bags. To each his own.CAVEAT: When I say "big" I'm not really saying roomy. I'm 5'8" and scrunched down in the bag so I can pull the little head section tight while lying on my stomach (basically using the bag backwards, with the head section covering the back of my head), my feet do touch the bottom of the bag, but not uncomfortably so. I'd imagine anyone taller than about 5'8", however, would need to get the XL or bigger.(Did I mention that it's big?):-DNOTE: The past few nights here it's been either in the 20s or 30s. Sleeping in the Kelty/wool blanket combo (along with putting that whole combo on a non-insulated Klymit inflatable ultra lightweight pad, encased by a 2Go Tyvex zippered bivvy sack) I was quite toasty. And clothes-wise all I was wearing were wool socks and top/bottom wool thermals. No other clothes. No gloves. No balaclava. Tonight it's going to be a little warmer and I'm going to test this bag out by itself, just on the Klymit pad. And as soon as it's down in the 30s or 20s again I'll try this Teton bag by itself and see how insulating and warm it really is. Then I'll update this review. This is basically just an unboxing review. For me, if I can get the same or better results just with the Teton and 2Go bivvy sack, then that'll be my set up. Not perfect, but more than good enough. And simpler.Update 11/25/18: Last night I slept in the Teton Celsius, on top of the Klymit V2 pad, which was zipped inside the 2Go Tyvex bivvy sack. I was only wearing Merino wool thermals top/bottom, thick wool socks, and nice wool gloves. The temperature went down to around 42 degrees. I slept on my stomach, with the bag fully zipped and the head area pulled up over the back of my head but not cinched at all. (I also had a small inflatable pillow.) I was extremely comfortable. Much more comfortable than sleeping with the Kelty + wool blanket. The Teton is real cushy and more roomy than the mummy design of the Kelty. I slept until 9 AM and felt great when I woke up. Next up: I'll wait until the temperature goes back down into the 20s and update the review after that. So far, so good!! 4THANKS TETON!I'm between 5'9 and 5'10. The size is perfect for my needs. I've included this bag with my gear because it suits me for car camping. All materials and workmanship indeed have a nice quality. Stuffs easily into the included sack. While it does not zip across bottom, the bottom zipper functions for one foot to hang out for regulating my temperature. I like the brushed flannel on the inside; it looks durable yet feels comfortable. I was hoping for the more burnt orange color that is illustrated in all the photos. This is more traffic orange...could come in handy. I've not tested my bag; so I'll report back. Overall I'm happy with my purchase because I can see the quality before my eyes and I have read other reviews. I would recommend this gear to others for value, quality and specific use (car camping). 5Great Warm Comfortable Sleeping BagI bought two of these sleeping bag for my wife and I when we go camping and we love them. This was a great purchase, well worth the money. There s so many good things about this bag, that s why I m giving a 5 star review.Pros:-Shipping was fast, Prime so 2 days-packaging and box was neat and not beat up-travel sack bag is great, it s actually not a fight to stuff the sleeping bag in like normal undersized draw string bags, once you get the bag in, it has two straps that allow you to tight and condense the sleeping bag a lot smaller-lots of loft, or very fluffy-inside is a very soft cotton flannel like material so no sweating or no loud sweaky noises when you twist and turn inside-inside has a small pocket to have your flashlight close to you, this pocket is also big enough for a phone, wallet, or keys-zipper is strong and can be pulled from both inside and outside-selling point: every seem that s apart of the zipper has a extra rolled tube like material to not allow cold air to get in or escape through the zipper-selling point: same tube like material is located at the top of the bag, where your shoulders meet to create that extra space where dead space tends to be which leads to ambient air inside your bag, so it fills the gaps at your neck&shoulder line-selling point: again that usual dead space around your neck&shoulder line is definitely voided because they incorporate a draw string easily to reach to pull in and has zero gaps, it s almost like a step 1 before you use your mummy hood-selling point: a draw string mummy hood that s on a normal style rectanglular bag. I ve always like the idea of mummy hood but I hated the tapered down bags as I need leg room, I can t sleep like vampire-selling point: seller makes right&left sided zippers so that way you can combine two together. If you do this, my advise is to watch a YouTube video on how to attach because the hardest part is getting your zipper unattached before you combine both together, the zipper is strong, use some strength don t be scared-good additions: soft Velcro to cover zipper placement and locking so bag doesn t accidentally open or widen, btw they designed the velcro in a specific way so it can t scratch you-good additions: two hanging loops at the feet of the bag for storage as you don t want to keep it in the travel sack bag and lose it s loft-colors and patterns of the bag are nice. My wife loves her turquoise and I actually do like my hunter green with cool patterns insideCons:- I m 5 8 and when I m in the bag my feet are flush to the bottom, I m a side sleep who bends their knees so bottoming out the bag wasn t an issue for me but I felt it bottom when I did that morning stretch. My wife is 5 2 and no issues for her. Honestly, I read about this from another review but I didn t take it to heart because I know I bend my knees and I didn t want order the XL size, when it s more material, more weight, if your a backpacker you know every ounce counts. I think Teton is aware of there sizing since there s a XL model, so really this isn t CON at all, reason why I gave 5 stars. My advice; if you re taller than 5 8 get the XL model, if you re 5 8 or 5 7 and sleep with your legs straight out, you re probably going to feel the bottom of the bag so get the XL model, if you re under 5 7 don t worry about bottoming out the bag. 5Best Cold weather gear I haveUsed for 2 days in Wayne National Forest in 30 degree weather. not for ultralight backpacking, this is heavy duty for the cold season at 5.5 lbs, but I stayed warm and bundled for the first time in early spring camping, and cannot wait to see how far into fall/winter I can go camping with this sleeping bag. Very comfortable inner material, and superior zippers. My favorite sleeping bag. 5Good night's sleepI purchased this sleeping bag in both the Right and Left configuration so that the two halves could be zipped together. My daughter and I love the color, it's brighter IRL than it is on the screen. We also love the warmth and comfort of the fabric. These weren't slippery, but they also weren't flannel and hot. The media pocket is a handy feature too. What I especially loved is the bolstering around the neck. Our camping pillows aren't that substantial, and the bolster added comfort.I didn't like trying to get these back into the stuff sack, but who does. They come folded and rolled. The first time we put them away, I followed the comments that you could just stuff them in. They are super lofty, so while this can be done, it takes extreme effort. My 10 year old could not do it herself. When we actually used them for camping, I rolled them up. They fit in much easier. I may sew some ties to them, or just throw some into the bag, they would help to keep it in a roll while the stuff sack is slipped on. I did like how sturdy the stuff sacks are, and how I could use the cinch straps to make the package more compact. If I had a need for more sleeping bags, I would consider purchasing them again. 5I think it got down below 40F at night and I was totally comfortable in this sleeping bagWe've only used our pair of TETON Sports Celsius Regular size sleeping bags once so far, but it was on a particularly cold night in December. I think it got down below 40F at night and I was totally comfortable in this sleeping bag. We had two zipped together for myself, my wife and our 2 year old and we had plenty of room.If you're buying two, make sure to get a left and a right (colors can be different) so you can zip them together. 5Great sleeping bag for car campingI have a 20 yr old, very expensive down mummy bag that I used for backpacking way before I had kids. Now that I'm about 25 lbs up though, that bag just feels too confining so I bought this one for a recent car camping trip (as in car was 10 ft away from campsite). I thought this bag was very roomy and the inside lining was quite soft. I slept warm and cozy in shorts and a t-shirt while the temperature dropped to about 40 degrees at night. The bag did spin a little on me. When I woke up, I was pretty consistently sleeping on the zipper, but it wasn't uncomfortable. So here is the deal with the length. I am 5'8" and it was long enough for me but I think it depends on how you sleep. Lying flat on my back with my head in the pillow zone there was plenty of room left at the bottom of the bag. However, lying flat on my back, fully extended, with the balls of my feet touching the very bottom of the bag, it only covered me to the middle of my forehead. No problem for me because I am a side, fetal position sleeper (which there is plenty of room to do comfortably) and I like my face exposed. But if you want to sleep fully extended with your head fully covered, you might want to go up in length, if you are taller than say 5"6". Oh and no problem squeezing it back into the bag although it is a tight fit. Just need to start at the foot end and squeeze the air out as you roll. I also sit on it to hold it together while I'm shoving it in the bag. 5Best sleeping bag ever!Love love love this sleeping bag!!! These are super warm and kept us super warm when it got down to the teens. I love how fluffy the sleeping bags feel on the inside and how truly comfortable they were. They also stuffed back into their bags perfectly and it took no time at all which was awesome. I have been recommending these sleeping bags to all my friends and co-workers and may even by another set for the summer months. My favorite sleeping bags yet! 5Where was this sleeping bag all my life??Growing up I never slept well in a sleeping bag, I mean never ever! I needed a sleeping bag for tent camping and knew the temperatures could drop into freezing overnight. I read a lot a reviews on a lot of different bags, plus I am allergic to down. I ended up purchasing this bag and it arrived the day before the camping trip. Let me first say that the person in another review who is 5'7" had length issues that I did not have but maybe she sleeps with her legs straight and I sleep in a ball. Second, I hated sleeping in sleeping bags because my feet feel trapped, I like to have them sticking out, I feel like I can't move, the list can go on- other reviews convinced me I might not have these problems in this bag and they were correct. So here I am knowing there is a frost warning, packing to go camping with a sleeping bag that is still in the box. I set up camp and enjoyed my s'more making. When it camp time to sleep I dressed in warm layers and settled in. I made the mistake of taking the pillow off of my bed from home so it wouldn't really fit well inside and had to turn it sideways. I had a little trouble zipping the bag up from the inside & it took me a few times to get the velcro around the shoulder area to lay nicely. I have to say that it took me a little bit to get comfortable, you really do need to get your shoulders right on the shoulder area for it to lay on your neck correctly. Once I was settled it felt just like a warm blanket snuggled up around me. The flannel was comfy and I tried my best to sleep... A few hours later I woke up sweating and needed to take off a layer of clothing. I was worried with the bag rated to 0F I would be cold in 30-35F, but I was hot! When I woke up in the morning I didn't feel like I was tossing all night not sleeping because I felt trapped. I got the sleeping bag twisted around and the zipper was under my stomach, but with the padding along the zipper I felt comfortable! I was so warm and snuggly in my bag that I didn't want to get out into the 40 degree air with the sunrise. I would use this bag again! I highly recommend to anyone who isn't a good sleeper in sleeping bags to try this bag. The only improvement I would make would be to make it easier to zip from the inside, but that could be something my novice self is doing wrong. 5
