TRUE TO SIZE FOR COMPETITIVE SWIMMERSI m around 5'6"-5 7 ,145lbs, & 36DDD bra size. (I wear a women's 6-8 and size Medium in almost everything, except bathing suit tops where I wear a "Large").My guide is:*For light swimming- (36 bra = 36 suit)*For competitive swimming - (36 bra = 34 suit)*For casual swimming - (36 bra = 38 suit)(For light swimming, the suit it initially SUPPOSED to fit tight. Not painful, not impossible to get on, just very snug. They WILL stretch with more use & as soon as you go in the water!)As I said in my title, TRUE TO SIZE FOR COMPETITIVE SWIMMERS !!!! With that said, If you are looking to use this to swim *competitively* (meaning, you will get lots of use out of it) I would STILL say to order one size down. Just as my High School Swim coach always said, Always order a size down (or two) in order for it to stretch out through the season. If you order too big, it will be falling off you by the end of the season.I ordered a 36, instead of a 34 (which I wore when I was competing), because I only plan to use this for light exercise (2 swims a week). I WOULD have ordered a size smaller if I was for competing or using it 5+ days a week. Please please note that this is a COMPETITIVE SUIT, therefore sizes will reflect that. That is just how competitive suits are supposed to fit for each size at first.OVERALL:PROS: great slimming fit, thick(er) straps for support, & complete side breast coverage! (Which is oh so hard to find!)CONS: NONE! (Back end rises up a bit, but will stretch out with wear)! 5Yes, it runs small, even considering proper fit for swimmersAs other reviewers said, it runs small. I swim 3x a week for 1 hr at a time, so I prefer to buy a tight suit because as other reviewers said suits will stretch with regular use. I'm 5'3", 100 lbs, long torso, and the most comfortable size out of the package on me is a 34. But after a few months my 34 suits are all loose, forming those unsightly air bubbles when I swim, and draping like droopy coffee filters once I am out of the water (not to mention that the fabric begins to look sheer with the stretching). My 32 suits from a variety of brands will feel tight at first (even sometimes chafing and requiring Vaseline), but then after a month or so they feel perfect. So I went with a 32 on this one. On the plus side, no chafing at all. But it is really really tight on the shoulders to the point of being painful and making my muscles sore, and also pulls in the bikini line. As others pointed out this seems to have been cut for people with a short torso.I've worn my suit for several weeks and the discomfort has diminished, i.e. the suit has already stretched as expected and it feels a lot better. But because of the cut I am not sure the discomfort will completely go away. I know this means this suit will last longer, but every time I am in the pool I wish I had gone with a 34...On the upside, this is an extremely good value for the fabric quality (fully lined and looks very resistant)--unbelievable price (probably because the sizing is so odd).I washed it before wearing (cold, gentle cycle in the machine with detergent, line dry) and I wash it this way once a month. They tell you never to use fabric detergent, but I believe that just rinsing in water doesn't fully remove chlorine etc. Also washing it this way stretches it out a bit, which helps with the fit! :) 3Good fit and great quality.I read reviews before purchasing so I ordered size 36 although I am a 34 C. It runs a bit small, I recommend ordering one size larger than your size. Other than that I really like it. It fits very well and it's perfect for doing laps in a pool. Also, you can't beat this price! 5Disappointing purchaseI was desperate for a competitive swimsuit that was not ridiculously priced, so I went for this item. Weirdly enough-- it totally fit me well when I first tried it on, but after I ripped off the tags and tried to squeeze in for my class it was extremely difficult to put on. I made it happen. However, after 1 swim class the suit would no longer fit me (no matter what I did) and the material began to get weird (linty-like) as another reviewer mentioned earlier. Disappointed, but I got what I paid for. Definitely not worth spending $$ on since it was a one-time use only, and the material became undone. Lesson learned- buying another suit from a Big 5.Also, for reference I am 5' 0" and I weigh 115lbs (43kgs)... I ordered a Medium, because everyone suggested sizing up. It did not fit. 1It's true! These are TIGHT, but they're meant to be.I am 5'2" and about 120lbs. I wear a 34B or 34C bra and a size 2 in dresses and pants. I ordered the size 34 (also says sz8 on the box) in this suit. I looked at various size charts and reviews, but I was too lazy to measure myself, so I just went with my bra size (34). The suit is TIGHT. I think this is how it's meant to fit for competition, and I know suits have a tendency to loosen over time. I might have gone a size up if I'd tried this on in a store somewhere. I'm planning to start swimming a few laps at the gym, so I am not at all a competitive swimmer. I plan to keep the suit. 4tight, but stick to your size if you re wearing it for sportsi needed a suit i could swim laps in a few times a week as i m training for a triathlon. after reading reviews, i got a size 28. for reference, i m 5 5, 115 pounds, 32dd and 26 ish waist. the first time i put it on was a bit of a struggle, but i m anticipating it ll stretch with wash and wear. there isn t any padding but the suit is sleek enough that your nipples don t really show through (the darker the color, the better). all in all it s a nice quality swimsuit. if you re wearing it for leisure, probably order a size or two up, but if you re wearing it to swim, i d recommend following the size chart. if you re heavier, i d recommend ordering two sizes up for leisure and one size up for swimming, because it is really tight the first time you wear it. 5The key word is COMPETITIVEThis suit is awesome. Can't get a competitive suit better than Speedo. To reviews that say it's far too small--measure correctly and expect it to be tight because it is a competitive suit. Swimmers know suits need to be tight to reduce drag. For reference, I ordered a 32 as a very petite 4'11" 100lb woman. Could even size down to a 30 for races. TO FIX THE NIPPLE PROBLEM: No, this suit does not have padding and without this trick everyone will see your nips. Use waterproof bandaids. They work like a charm. Try it. It will amaze you. 5Great buy, great price for an speedo. Order bra size next even number i.e 34 bra get 36 swimsuitAfter looking in stores and how expensive speedo usually is I decided to buy this one, it is a great price for a great swimsuit, it was worth the risk of buying without trying, I ordered on a fri and go it next thu, I read all reviews to decide on the size since it is quite tricky, after reading a vendors suggestion that said "order your chest/bra size the next even number" so I am a 34n, and ordered 36 size. I am 5"2, 111 pounds. It fits very well, I agree swimsuits have to be tight enough, for me this is perfect and feels comfy. Arrived in Speedo box package with care instructions and all that. Very happy with my purchase. 5This bathing suit does NOT run too small for the purposes of fitness/competitive swimming!I am 5'6, 162 lbs, am a 34DD, and usually wear a size 8-10 in clothes. Upon reading the reviews, however, I decided to go with the majority opinion and order a size up, so I got a size 38 rather than a 34 or 36. It came today and is extremely comfortable (not at ALL tight), but I can already tell it's going to loosen up and drag in the water after a few weeks of doing laps. For those of you who are swimming laps more than a couple times a week or if you swim competitively, I HIGHLY recommend not sizing up and just going with your regular size! I used to swim competitively, and was always instructed by coaches to order down, since swimsuits naturally and quickly stretch out with regular use (to illustrate this point- in my much thinner swimming days, I wore a 32, and it is now so stretched out after years of use that I can put it on with ease...it's too worn out to swim in now, but it just goes to show how these swimsuits stretch out!). Also, If it matters to you, you'll also find yourself swimming slightly faster in a tighter suit, as there is less drag and resistance.I think I'm going to keep the 38 for now, since I'm just getting back into swimming after a long hiatus, so am only doing laps once or twice a week right now. But I think once I increase the frequency of my workouts, I'll order the 36 (perhaps even the 34 if I loose a few pounds!). 4Perfect for training/competitionI took the advice of everyone here and sized up, although I didn't go up significantly higher as others suggested because I knew these types of suits are meant to be tight. I purchased a size 36, and it fits tightly like it's supposed to since the purpose of this suit is for training/competition swimming. I am typically a size 2, 135 lbs, and 5 feet 3 inches tall with an athletic build. I am a 32DDD, so it does fit tightly on the chest, which I prefer but might be something that could deter others. Either way, I love this suit and it's (somehow) my first Speedo after many years in Nike suits. 5
