    Large fit smaller than expectedMy 6 year old can swim but isn t ready to be where he can t stand up. He needed something to perform a swim in 10ft water during a kids triathlon. It made him feel safe in the deep water but didn t impede his swimming like a life jacket. This worked great! I think it s is an ideal product for a child that has some swimming skills. It s not for toddlers who need to be held upright in the water.The Large is suggested for 45-60 pounds and 4-6 years old. My 6 year old was 50 pounds and 49 inches/ a skinny kid - and it JUST fit. I had to adjust the crotch strap to the max length. It could be too small for some kids even if they re under 60 pounds. 4Great product for a beginning swimmer, but.......there is a significant amount of chaffing that occurs on the skin on the sides of the neck and under the arms as a result of wearing this vest to swim for several hours. I was confident swimming with my child while he was wearing this, and it fit him well and enabled him to swim in a more natural fashion so he could actual practice. However it seems that kids that need flotation assistance are cursed to forever end up with sore spots as a result. I got this product because it looked more comfortable than others we had been using, and initially it was. But once we were gearing down, I noticed the red and the stinging set it. Oh well. Other than that, I felt that my child was safe and he had confidence to try the swimming techniques I was showing him. He was proud that I could let him go and he could practice. 3Love this productMy 2 year old wears this every time we go to the pool. It's a great teaching aid and keeps him afloat but still requires him to manipulate himself in the water to keep from going under. It gives him the extra confidence to get in and try to start swimming without the fear of sinking like a rock if he makes a mistake. I highly recommend this product to those who are trying to teach young one's to swim. I'm not a fan of the arm floaties or vests that are flotational and require no effort to stay above water. I wan't my son to learn how to swim, not just float around. It also creates a natural feeling when learning to swim. Arm floaties restrict arm movement and floatation vests try to keep your head straight up at all times creating a awkward swimming motion. This also keeps that safe fear of the water instilled. He doesn't forget to be cautious because he knows that he is having to attempt to swim every time he's in the water. I believe he is less likely to jump into water carelessly because he is never truly relaxed and floating around in it. 5Seems to work like expected. I will attach the information of the tag. 5NOT a life jacket, but a great swim vest!I purchased the Speedo Kids' UPF Begin to Swim Classic Swim Vest in a medium size for my 2 year old granddaughter to use in the pool when she comes to visit. She weighs almost 35 pounds. She is not afraid of the water, so I was concerned that she would find this vest cumbersome but she was very comfortable wearing it. It is licensed by the American Red Cross. The vest is made of neoprene and has a UV50+ Block the Burn protection. The zipper is well made and zips/unzips easily. The vest also has a polyester inner lining. The safety strap fits between my granddaughters legs and is adjustable. The colors are a bright pink and purple with a bright green trim. The only thing that I don't like about the vest is that the only thing that is adjustable is the safety strap, not the vest itself. It only has the zipper. With that being said, it is NOT a life jacket, it is a swim AIDE. I would never leave my baby alone in the water with this or anything else, for that matter. It is a great swim vest made by a trusted swimwear manufacturer. 4Not good for a baby to toddler .I have a 2 years old daughter and this vest does not work well on her . You need to try and see because no all kids float the same. It will tip her over and keep her head under water . She got so scare that next time she saw the swimming pool she start shaking . Please ,Please be very cautious when using this floater because is not for every child . I won t recommend this vest for a little one . Maybe for an older kid . Over 4 . 1Great vest - floatation without inhibiting movement.Excellent swim vest. Our daughter (4 years old next month, 30 lbs, 37.5" tall) seems very comfortable in it. If she jumps in off the side, her head does under but she bobs right back up. She has enough mobility to float on her back or her front. I only wish there was a way to reduce the flotation gradually to transition her to swimming without it.The strap seems to be no issue at all, except with one bathing suit that had more fabric (a skirt) and seemed to bunch up. Over a rash guard, the vest seems to be very comfortable. At least, she doesn't tug at it and we see no chaffing.Definitely would recommend. 5Perfect for my 5 yr old!This fit my daughter perfectly and gave her so much more freedom to swim than a puddle jumper. I wish we'd known about this before!For reference-We bought a large. She is 55# and 4'. 5Yes! This is a Begin to Swim A+ product I said it before, I will say it again. I trust Amazon buyers reviews. My beautiful four year old Granddaughter uses this in the pool every day. It fits perfectly and the strap DOES NOT ride up her bottom. She still is able to swim freely, and every day before we get out of the pool I take this off to practice. Kids with Autism are drawn to water, so when they say Begin to Swim, believe it. I have proof! 5Great life jacket for learning to swimThis life jacket is absolutely perfect for young children. We looked at and tested several other types and finally landed on this one. Others are big, bulky and make it very awkward for kids to swim. This is NOT the type to put on a kid then throw them in the pool while you do other things. You must stay near them, but the jacket is minimalist enough that it allows full arm movement and simply serves as an aid in learning to swim. My 2 year old had no swimming lessons and in 1 weekend of wearing this learned how to maintain balance, tread water, and swim around in the pool. VERY happy with the purchase. 5
