Customer Reviews

Almost a perfect shoe...almostAesthetics: This shoe aesthetically is great looking. From the side it is similar to a vans or converse style shoe. It is wide in the forefoot and qualifies as a foot shaped shoe without looking like a clown shoe.Fit: Here is where things got tricky. I was looking for more of a barefoot style shoe, zero drop. The insole has a lot of raise and arch support to it, which is opposite of what I am searching for. One of the shoes was also a bit stretched out in the mid-foot, and was noticeably loose on my foot. The laces serve as little more than garnish, so there is no way to tighten the shoe, which also makes removing the insoles a no go. They were ultimately very comfortable without the insoles but just too loose with no safety net of being able to tighten the laces.Verdict: A pricey great looking shoe that may or may not meet your needs. It didn't quite meet mine so I'll be returning.them.2Great comfort, not so great durability!Comfortable but not durable. I owned two pairs, both lasted 3-4 months when the mesh started coming apart at the toes.3Great looking and comfortable - Highly recommendI absolutely love these shoes. Owning the grey (Fog/Charcoal) and tan (Rock/Mustang) pairs, I can easily say these are my go to casual shoes. They are quick and easy to put on and take off and are very comfortable to wear, even for long periods. The toe box is wider than any other canvas or mesh shoes I've worn, which leaves my toes feeling free to move around. It makes walking in them more similar to walking barefoot. The insoles are padded and provide decent arch support. If the support or cushioning isn't enough, the insoles easily come right out. You could replace them with Dr. Scholl's or some other insert to make them suit your feet. The shoes look great with shorts, khakis, jeans, or really anything that isn't a suit. Actually, they might work with a linen suit. It's not often that people say much about my shoes, but these have received multiple compliments. The fold down heel is useful sometimes, like when I want to take out the trash or do something quick, where I'd normally slip on flip flops. I wouldn't walk around with them that way for long though, because the back is still felt under your foot.If you are looking for a good looking, comfortable, durable shoe that goes with most anything, I highly recommend the Nohea Moku.5Great shoe for those of us with tailors bunionsThis shoe restored my ability to walk! No kidding, and no smack on the forehead by a crazy preacher required. I have tailors bunions on both my feet and these shoes are about the only thing I've found that both 1. do not irritate the bunion, and 2. don't look like a medical slipper. I wear them as my standard work/office shoe now after years of wearing New Balance. NBs are also known for their wide-set bunion-friendly profile, and that was fine enough until I turned 40. After going through a half-dozen different shoes and having my bunions get progressively more painful, I stumbled onto these and - voila! - all my problems were solved.5Perfect fit and really versatile vented shoesI needed some cool but supportive shoes that weren't sandals. There are a lot of really cheap ventilated shoes on the market that I didn't trust, so I bit the bullet and bought these Olukai Nohea Sneakers. Despite the sneaker label, they really look very nice for a wider array of uses, and they fit perfectly. I have a relatively wide forefoot and fairly narrow heel, and generally wear a 9D (or medium) shoe. Because most people said these fit accurately to size (82%), I went ahead and ordered 9D/medium, and they fit perfectly. They are meant to be loose compared to a leather dress shoe, but I didn't want sloppy loose like a Croaky. These allow for plenty of forefoot room, and they are easy on an off with no-tie elastic laces. You push down the back of the shoe, grab the little loop at the top of the laces and pull the shoes on like a sock, then use your finger to bring up the back collar around your heel. Simple and fast. I've walked some in them, up and down steep hills on the road, and they are supportive and absorb some shock without being mushy. And they really are cool, like being barefoot, even though I was wearing socks (Wrightsocks cool mesh II). They look nice, too, just like they did in the picture. I got the Mustang color, as it is sort of a neutral taupe/light brown with an off-white sole. Very pleased with them and would buy them again, even at the high price. Worth it!5Good option for a wide toe boxI've had trouble with a morton's neuroma in my feet and I've found about the only thing that helps is a wide shoe with a roomy toe box. Unfortunately there are not a ton of options out there for this and I've mostly resorted to wearing Altra running shoes. But Altra tends to have a bit more of colorful style than I'd ideally like, so I decided to give these a try. As advertised, they definitely have a roomy toe box and overall fit pretty loose. Plenty of room and I have no discomfort wearing them. The downside is that without actual laces, you can't make them any tighter, so it's probably hit or miss how well they fit you (especially without half sizes). And given they are probably going to be a little loose, you wouldn't want to wear them hiking or anything as they're not super stable for your foot. However, as a casual wear shoe they fit and look great. Not as cushy as running shoes but still very comfortable. I'll have to see how well they hold up though, as one of my biggest gripes with Altra is how quickly they wear out. I'm hoping I can get at least a few summers worth of wear out of these.5My Favorite Go-To Summer Shoe!I have had Sperry's and various other breathable light "boat" shoes. These are very very good. Very comfortable. I wear sockless most of the time, but fine with socks as well. These Olukai's- I knew they made very high priced but super high quality flip-flops. But these shoes are very good as well. Very comfortable very good soles that are water/slip resistant. If you look, the back/HEEL part is made to lay down if you choose to wear them as a slip on/ no heel shoe. I prefer to wear as a shoe. Great with shorts or pants, I really like them.5My new favorite shoes.Love these shoes! To start, I have a hard time finding shoes that fit. I have a wide foot and need arch support as well. I've searched long and hard for a good travel/beach/water shoe that allows me to walk in areas where my feet might get wet, but still give me the support I want when walking longer distances. These are perfect! They are "dressy" enough that I felt comfortable wearing them with slacks and a collared shirt on "cruise casual" nights on a recent cruise. They worked great as water shoes when I visited a beach that required their use. I also love how easily they dry out after being wet (about 4 hours in the sun if you removed the insoles). The ability to "slide" into the shoe if needed is also a nice plus. THESE ARE MY NEW FAVORITE SHOES.5Lots of potentially innovative features don t quite land, practically speakingLooked up that tidbit on the company s history section, though it doesn t have anything to do with my review. The fold down back of the foot is a really novel concept, unfortunately it s not as practical in practice. Have you ever worn a sneaker or no-lace shoe that had a back to it, forcing the back down to make the shoe more accessible? Do you remember how it felt? Well, that s pretty much how it feels in these too. I just can t get use to standing on the back of the shoe, especially for a long-period of time. I always revert to putting the shoe on the normal way. It s still a nice shoe, just not as functional as I hoped. Maybe if they made the back thinner? Also, the front toe box area is nice and roomy but the mid foot is kind of narrow, making my fat feet squeeze into them. Not the end of the world, I ve dealt with the issue all my life, just wish they had wide sizes. Finally, the no-lace system is great in theory but there s no way to hook the laces so they stay tightened.Having said all this, the shoe is stylish and breathes super well and I still feel like bragging about the features to other people despite them not quite being as functional as I hoped.4Only Shoe You Need for Three Weeks in ItalyWore them on the airplane and every day during our recent trip to Rome, Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento and Sicily. I walked a lot, 115 miles according to the iPhone app, often on rough streets (some were two thousand years old!) and trails. These were comfortable and don't show much wear for all the ground covered. These are great travel shoes, won't set off a metal detector, easy to slip off on long international flights. They are vegan so no one had to kill anything just so you can walk around. The upper part of the shoe is a mesh fabric so it's not waterproof by any means. The laces are stretchy elastic that seemed too goofy to wear - at first. They are quite practical, however, and don't stretch to uselessness like I figured they would, the laces are still tight. Here's a photo of the shoes at the end of the trip, on the train from Milazzo to Catania, no apparent wear after heavy use.As for fit, the size appears to run true, no adjustment needed, at least for me, I'm a size 10.5
