Customer Reviews

We are now second generation Micro Maxi scooter fansOur grandkids got their first Micro scooters when they were 3 years old. Actually the grandson stood on his sisters scooter not moving before he could walk. And then we got him one. They've used them so much we've replaced wheels etc. and so their mother requested the one for the 6-12 year olds. Since they were coming to visit for Thanksgiving we gave them their Christmas presents early. They were thrilled and I'm sure have at least another 5-6 years of scootering in their future. These are the best scooters ever and we are have recommended them over and over. 5Great for kids just learning and still fun after! This scooter is awesome! I researched lots of scooters and read lots of reviews and this got the best reviews. My then 4 year old loved it. We got it for her for Christmas and I almost got the Mini Micro but I'm glad I went with the Maxi cause it worked then and will work for many years. She struggles with bikes cause she doesn't have the patience and neither do I so I decided on this scooter. It's easy to steer and balance and its adjustable. Since it was Christmas and there was snow she would ride it inside all over the place. Now that it's summer she loves it outside too. She likes to go fast and she never liked to go fast. It's because she is in control. She can do hills which frustrated her and me on a bike. We tried other scooters with one wheel and two wheels on the back and this scooter is so great for her. She's 5 and still buzzes around on it. Her 1 year old sister putts around on it too. Handle bars are too tall for her but she can get the general idea. I would totally buy this scooter again for my other kids. It was more than I wanted to spend but I decided I needed to spend the extra to make it better and more enjoyable for her and I'm so glad I did. It's sturdy and well built and easy to adjust and cute! I loved all the colors I could pick from. She'll get used to the bike eventually when I make dad with all the patience help, right now she's so happy with the scooter! It has a great concept for steering too. Instead of turning the handle bars she just leans side to side and shifts her weight and voila that's where it goes. 5Works even on a rough paved country road! For those of you wondering if this will work on a country asphalt road: it does! I was worried about our neighborhood's road because it's definitely not a smooth pavement, and neither is our driveway. I was worried the road surface would be too bumpy for my kids to control their scooters. NOT SO! I'm so pleasantly surprised at how well these handle on our country road. I purchased two for both of my girls, 5 and 3 years old. My 3 year old took to it like a fish to water and now zooms all over the place. I'm glad I didn't get the Micro Mini for her because the Maxi is just right for her on the lowest setting and now this scooter will grow with her. She's completely average in height for a 3 year old so unless your child is very short, go ahead and get the Maxi. I do recommend knee and elbow pads and even gripper gloves if riding on rougher pavement. One of them hit a small rock and took a tumble but was fine with the pads on and jumped right up and rolled away. What sold me on buying this over a cheaper Razor or other brand scooter is (1) quality and (2) replaceability of parts. I know our rough road will eat up the wheels eventually and I also know it won't cost an arm and a leg to fix it. I can see them using these for many years. 5Worth the MoneyWe were researching scooters for my 5 year old daughter and looked long and hard at the ones for sale at Target, given that they're about 1/5th the price of this one. Well, let me tell you, this one is worth every penny! The tri-wheel design allows her to keep it standing, but you use the deck to do the turning, allowing her to develop balance and confidence that could eventually translate into being able to skateboard on a longboard. The scooter itself has a heft to it that the cheaper competitors is missing. It is of a thicker-grade metal and the construction is top-notch!The lowest setting on the handlebar of this scooter equates to the setting on the Micro Mini scooter, so if you're considering the height of your child, for any child 3.5 years or more, I'd go ahead and spring for this one. It will definitely last longer and grow with them. 5Love this scooter! This scooter is great! I was torn between getting my son the micro maxi or the micro mini. Because my son is a big 4 year old and I was afraid he would out grow the mini I went with the maxi and I'm happy I did. My son loves this scooter! It is very stable and easy to use. As you can see in the pic I let him get used to riding it in the kitchen and it was a huge hit! The maxi is the perfect size and with a max weight of 110lbs my 50 lb son won't be growing out of this scooter any time soon! 5Very intuitive for a young child to learn....This is one of those great products that no one ever hears about because the Razor line just about has the market cornered. Yes those are less expensive, but if you purchase this maxi kick scooter at the right time for your child (about 3 years or so), it will end up being a very inexpensive toy over time. I paid $130 for this neon pink/black maxi kick scooter, and I figure it should last my three and a half year old another eight years plus.... that's only $16 dollars a year. The maxi scooter measures 24 in. high at it's lowest setting and that suits my 41 in. daughter very well. I almost purchased the mini kick, but so glad now that I didn't since the maxi is adjustable and has a slightly larger platform.I will concede this scooter is made in China just as the Razors are, but the components on the kick line of scooters are much better quality... the wheels, bearings, etc.The steering column does not fold down, but rather locks into place, or is removed with a "push" button mechanism. It can be a bit awkward to push the button to remove the column. I find that a small flat-head screwdriver works well for this. The height adjustment is a simple, but reliable quick release. The hand grips are really rubbery and provide excellent grip. The deck has no grip tape, but does seem to provide adequate slip protection as my daughter was riding through puddles yesterday. The deck has just the amount of flex one might expect a child's scooter to have, which really helps the carving effect one gets from the unique steering mechanism. The front wheels have a camber to them when turning.... think Can-Am roadster. The wheels are super smooth and ultra quiet on our hardwood, tile carpet, and outside on pavement.I was a little worried about my girl not getting the hang of the rear brake, but boy was I wrong. Once I showed it to her, she immediately began practicing with it. We had a couple rainy days at Christmas, so she got to practice inside before heading out. She seemed really confident right from the start. I'm so glad we paid a little more and went with the front three wheeled design. Our neighbor's child got a rear three wheeled scooter and she is constantly kicking the rear wheels when she pushes, regardless of which foot she uses. My girl is able to take big long confident strides when she pushes without kicking any wheels. If you are reading this debating between the maxi or mini, your child is probably going to fit the maxi at it's lowest setting. If you are here debating between a front or rear three wheeled design, I promise your child will be happier with this design if given the choice. Micro Mobility started out designing scooters for adults, and have since delivered a well designed quality line of children's scooters. It really is a great little scooter, and in my opinion far superior to the half a dozen different scooters belonging to the children in this cul-de-sac.**UPDATE 11-24-2014**Scooter is holding up great. Very well built. All the other kids in the neighborhood love to ride it because of the two wheels in front design, along with the built in 'camber'. I would buy this over again in a heartbeat. I've only raised the handle up about an inch from last year, so I firmly believe it will last our daughter for seven more years. Updating from 4 to 5 stars!**UPDATE 1-24-2016**Daughter is now 46 inches tall and still have tons of room to adjust the handlebars up as she grows. Scooter is in great shape, but she hasn't hit the half-pipe with it either. Seriously, this scooter is a really good buy despite the higher price than other scooters. She has been riding it about everyday for over two years now and I still believe she will get another 4-5 years out of it.****UPDATE 10/11/2017****Still going strong! We keep it in the garage so it isn't subjected to the elements. A little sun fading on the grips and a few nicks here and there but otherwise still in excellent shape. Our daughter prefers this to her bike so it gets ridden just about everyday at some point. A great value if you buy early.. around age 3 or so. I said she would likely get 8 years out of this scooter when I wrote the review in 2013. Well it's been almost 4 years now and I still feel she will get 3-4 more years of enjoyment from this scooter. Thanks for the time and if you have any questions feel free to ask and I will answer as best I can.SPO 5Maxi Scooter Was the Right Choice!Following the age, weight, etc., guidelines for the mini vs. maxi scooter, I should have purchased the Mini Micro Scooter but I knew my daughter would only use the mini micro for a year and then need to move up. She was "in between." I was a bit worried it would be too big for her or difficult to maneuver but it is not at all. She is 4 and very petite. The T-BAR is at the lowest setting for her and that is perfect. She learned to ride it in an afternoon including "steering" which you do by leaning and using the brake on the back wheel. It's very durable and steady. If you have a child who is kind of "in the middle" in terms of which scooter would be best, consider the Maxi. 5My 6 year old and 4 year old have these and love them. I got my 2 year old the ...Just get this size and not the mini. It's the same size as the mini when the bar is all the way down. My 6 year old and 4 year old have these and love them. I got my 2 year old the mini it's a little wider but I should have just gotten 3 of these. 5I am so pleased that we went with this scooter for our 5yo's ...I am so pleased that we went with this scooter for our 5yo's birthday gift. We looked at cheaper models, but none of them seemed to measure up in terms of quality or consistent positive customer feedback. This is a well-designed, well-manufactured scooter. This is our 5yo daughter's first scooter, so we wanted a three-wheeled scooter for extra stability. However, so many models put the double wheels in the back instead of the front. This makes it harder for them to really push themselves along without scraping up their ankles on the back wheels or throwing off their balance to avoid kicking the back wheels. The micro maxi has the double wheels up front, making it very easy for propulsion. The steering is easy for my 5yo to control. It is intuitive - she just leans into the way she wants to go, and it turns with ease. The back break is also a fantastic feature. I didn't think she would be able to get the hang of the break that quickly, but after just a couple of days, she had it down. She was quickly riding this thing like a pro! It's sturdy, easy to put together, easy to break down for travel, and easy to adjust handle bar height. And there are a billion accessories to deck it out in (on the company's website). We are very pleased with our purchase and would highly recommend this scooter! 5Consider this scooter first!Bought the Aqua Maxi Scooter for my 6 year old daughter and I do NOT regret it at all. It's made of high quality materials and appears to be very durable. It's a ultra quiet smooth ride and turns easily left to right. The steering column does not fold down, but rather locks into place, or is removed with a push button mechanism. The height adjustment is a simple quick release. The hand grips are rubbery and provide an excellent grip. The deck has no grip tape, but does seem to provide adequate slip protection. The deck has just the amount of flex and the size is great too. I can tell this scooter will be around for many years. Consider this scooter if you want a durable quality scooter. 5
