Customer Reviews

Very Pleased!Wow! I wasn't expecting these tires to make such a difference, but they do! I have a Trek Fuel EX7 that came with Bontrager 2.3-inch tires. I always felt that the Bontrager tires didn't have that much grip and felt hard on rocky trails. So, I used to ride them with very low PSI (in the teens), but kept bottoming out on rocky terrain.Once I got these tires, I was able to up the PSI into the low 20s and still have a lot more bite on the trails. With these, I confidently roll over sharp jagged rocks without hesitation. I am very pleased with these tires. Despite being more aggressive, I haven't noticed increased rolling resistance. 5The best front tire I have riddenThe Maxxis Ardent in the 2.4" with is my favorite all around tire on the front end. I have used Continental Trail King, Kenda Nevegal, Tioga Psycho Genius, WTB, Panaracer, and Hutchinson tires and I always return to Maxxis. 5The best all around MTB tire out there. These are, IMO, the best MTB tires out there for mixed terrain. I live in New England, and we have mud season, dry season, leaf season and cold season, and through all of it these tires grip like crazy and still have low enough rolling resistance to be fast when you need to. Hundreds of miles of rocky, rooty terrain and no rips at all in the sidewalls. I put 1000 miles on a set of these on my 29'er across two seasons and they're still going strong. Great tires, 5 stars all the way. 5First new tires in 3yrs!Tires look great. Installation was a little hard, i think this is to be expected on a tire that's new and never been mounted. Had to use some soapy water for the last section. I chose to stay with tubes for now, so tires can form their shape. Next flat I'll change to tubeless.Going on first ride today to test them out. They're Maxxis tires so i think they'll handle just fine! 5Tire failed on first ride!I purchased a Maxxis EXO Double Compound Ardent Folding 27.5 X 2.4 inch tire through Amazon. I waited a few months before I installed it on my bike. Approx 6 miles into my first ride on the new tire on a combination of asphalt, dirt, and gravel I noticed a split in the tire. The split started from the rim on the left side of the tire and ran all the way to the rim on the right side of the tire. The inner tube was protruding through the split on the right side of the tire. Because I had waited a couple of months to install the tire I was unable to return it through Amazon. I contacted Maxxis directly via their website and have been ignored so date. Customer service and quality control seem to be non-existent. I would be hesitant at best to purchase another tire from Maxxis. 1pretty goodI had purchases this for the front end of my bike. I typically ride loosish east coast trails and didnt want to go straight to a DHF because I was concerned about rolling resistance. This tire didnt love that. Just like others have said, there are noticeable dead spots in hard cornering and the grip is somewhat unpredictable. on hardpack it was pretty good though, but I just dont get to ride super flowy hardpack trails that often. I moved this to the back, and it feels at home now. Good traction, doesn't feel really draggy, brakes well - so itll stay back there. 4I used this to replace a Maxxis tire that came ...I used this to replace a Maxxis tire that came on my Yeti Mtn bike, which should never have been installed on a front wheel. This wheel grips and holds a line very well in mud, hard pack, and soft material. I was having front end washout problems and this solved it. I m high-speed cornering without reservations again. 5Great all-around and race day tireThese are some of the best tires I've ever owned. I use them primarily on my race bike, a Specialized FSR, and they hook up and hold the ground well. rolling resistance is minima; so you can really get going. Construction and quality is better than similarly priced Continental tires. I would place these more along the lines of Schwalbe tire quality, though they are slightly heavier than Racing Ralphs. They are very sturdy though and the sidewalls hold up well in Texas Hill Country terrain. 5Rails corners, stops on a dime. Great front tire.Excellent grip at low pressure tubeless. Fantastic cornering and braking performance. Performs significantly better in corners than the 2.25 versions and the larger volume really helps with smooth roll over roots and rocks. I feel rolling resistance is quite good. Use it in the front, mostly xc rolling trails. Too much for rear - I use ardent race out back. 5Best compromise I've found with regards to weight, speed, durability, versatility, value and handling. So far this is the best compromise I've found with regards to weight, speed, durability, versatility, value and handling. I'm on my second set and I've run them on a variety of surfaces and under a myriad of conditions. They set up for tubeless easily and seem to work equally well on UST or Stan's-spec rims. I'm never rolled a tire and have never experienced a side puncture in the sometimes thorny and craggy Central Texas conditions. I run them on both wheels. Like any tire they lose their grip and flex with age and have to be replaced. My first set gave me almost 4 years of wear and lasted well over a thousand miles. 5
