Customer Reviews

Great for toning arms or a great cardio workout with your arms if your legs are incapacitated. This device is very capable of giving a quality cardio workout as an arm bike. I injured my Achilles tendon and am stuck in a orthopedic boot for 6 weeks. I purchased this to have some outlet for cardio exercise. I use a Bluetooth polar heart rate monitor (also a great deal) to push myself during cardio workouts. In the first week my arms were not really strong enough to get my heart rate up enough. However, after I got into it, I am able to do interval training with this 40 seconds high intensity followed by 50 seconds low intensity repeatedly for about 25 minutes. By the end of the end of the workout, I am peaking at 160 BPM at the end of high intensity and down to about 125 at the end of the low intensity. At 49 years of age, this is as good if not better than my treadmill workouts. My arms are also toner than they have been for a very long time. I will probably mix this in with my treadmill and rowing machine cardio workouts even after my tendon heals. This device is the silver lining of tearing my tendon. 5A well built unit that I use a lot.I wore one of these out in about 8 years and bought another. I use it all the time. It was the one device they used in physical therapy that I could afford and had room for,If you use it as an arm bike, get the handles (Ergonomic hand pedals) it is much more comfortable that way.The read out is hard if you do not see well but they make another that is easy to read. It is simple to install and only costs about $20.My only complaint is that resistance is controlled and it is not shown on the screen. It would be better if I knew how much I was increasing the resistance.5This thing is very useful. First off I'm a 6'0 guy and I'm ...This thing is very useful.First off I'm a 6'0 guy and I'm not feeling like I'm riding a tiny clown bicycle which is sort of rare with this style of product. The stride is fine.I really like the magnetic resistance select and it's easy to key in on a level you want that's stays consistent. I haven't run into any pedal problems as others yet but I'm keeping my eye out for that. I use this for my arms after a neck injury too and it's welcome low impact resistance. My main complaint is that you'll have to find some solution to get it from sliding all over. They provide these blue sticky pads that are useful for 3 days before they collect all the dust in the universe and effectively become felt pads that make the thing slide more than without. Those were a bad choice to include with the product. On of those anti-slide kitchen pads would work better with this. That's the only reason I subtracted a star, other than that I'm really pleased with purchasing this. Quality device! 4Excellent replacement for recumbent bike after downsizingI am a senior that bought this to replace a recumbent bike after downsizing to condo. I had to get some accessories to make it work for me but well worth it.After trying different chairs, velcro strap, spacing etc. to get to where was no movement, wobbling, in unit or chair, I got the 22-inch wide Adjustable Leg which raises it up and changes the angle. That got rid of the wobble and instability and helped me peddle at the right angle and also made it possible to use this sitting in at recliner. Most of the time I use it pushed up against a wall and use a sticky yoga mat under a wooden chair to keep the chair from moving. I also use a wobble cushion on the chair to help exercise my core muscles and correct my posture. My former recumbent bike had pedals with one side that was smooth and shaped to fit a bare foot nicely so I got in the habit of peddling with just my socks on. The pedals that came with this were way too narrow to pedal barefoot comfortably and I could tell the MagneTrainer large pedals wouldn't be any better. The closest thing I found were the Sunlite Flat Form Excerciser Pedals, 9/16" fit, and they fit the MagneTrainer perfectly and work fine .Also ended up getting the larger display to be able to read the numbers. When I bought this I didn't think it would be all that comfortable to use but turns out the pedal action is very smooth and with the right setup/chair, adjustable leg, barefoot pedals, etc., it is just as enjoyable to use as my former recumbent bike and now I use it every day. So exceeded my expectations and very glad I got this.02-08-18 Update: I screwed large rubber non slip pads to the bottom of the wooden arm chair I use for pedaling and that keeps the chair from drifiting/moving while pedaling. The adjustable leg has helped eliminate drift/movement of the MagneTrainer even on my laminate floors. So now I can use the MagnetTrainer anywhere in the house without having to use a sticky mat under the chair/cycle or push the cycle up against a wall. 5Absolutely awesome!! Use it everydayAbsolutely awesome!! Use it everyday. Recovering from liver transplant and stroke. I lost almost 40% of my muscle. At 60 it's not that easy to get muscle back. This has been a major factor in my return to a normal life. I actually use it more for upper body. The range of resistance is excellent. The fact that it can be used in either direction is a definite plus. the timer isn't anything great but it provides all the information you need. There are accessories for using it for upper body, but I found that I didn't really need them. Stability can be an issue, especially when using it on floor. I use a piece of foam liner (for tool drawers/ cupboards). 5High quality exercise unit overrides any concern about flimsy lo-tech digital readout failThis is a great exercise unit. Very heavy-duty, Extremely smooth resistance. There are 340 levels of resistance to choose from. One complaint, and that's that the digital readout is a very flimsy plastic thing that slides over a metal prong (about 3/4" wide by 1/8" thick flat metal) on top of the unit. The readout has a very thin plastic that the metal slides in to, and if the readout unit is ever bumped, it will break. On the plus side, since the data from the readout unit is not very useful, it's not much of a loss. I think it gives information that is only based on the RPM of pedaling, ignoring resistance. It also cannot transmit data to tracking devices like some competitors. I glued the unit back together a couple times, but then just stopped using the readout unit instead. What this pedal unit has over other magnetic-resistance pedal units is that it has a wide range of resistance and is very sturdy and heavy-duty. I bought it for those reasons, and I'm very satisfied. I time my exercise manually using the tracker on my phone, and just note what resistance I used when I do and try to maintain a vigorous pace. I don't really need to know exactly how much energy I'm burning as long as I'm exercising at an appropriate level for me, which is what I would do regardless of the information available to me. Tapping my phone to track exercise time/regularity has proven plenty easy for me, with the phone I have. I have used the unit for 2 years and it seems like it will last forever (except for that flimsy digital readout). 4Quality equipment, and an idea to keep it from slipping on floorsFor the past 3 years, I have been very conscious about avoiding sitting for prolonged periods of time for health reasons. No more sitting at a desk all day. I have beening using a standing desk at work and at home, a treadmill desk along with a FitDesk at home. I bought this 2 years ago thinking I would use this at home while sitting at a desk or on the couch. It didn't work well for either as the profile was too high to keep my legs from hitting the desk. While pedaling on the couch in a reclined position, this would slip and slide on my wood floor. So I set this aside for the FitDesk.Recently with my change in work environment, I hauled this out to consider using it at the office where my desk can be adjusted to a height probably to give enough clearance for my legs. Either that or get the DeskCycle which has a lower profile designed for under desk use. I would rather avoid buying more equipment though. I have also discovered a set up that works really well on my wood floor while pedaling from the couch. I found an anti-slip matt-mesh thing you use for placing under throw rugs. They cost only a few dollars. I cut out a piece to put the MagneTrainer on. Voila! The MagneTrainer stays in place without any issues. No straps to fasten to furniture needed. Now I can use it while sitting on the couch too. Now if they can only ship this with normal pedals big enough for pedaling with feet. I an looking to buy a set to replace the standard hand/feet pedal. While this is a great piece of equipment, I only use this to add light activity to my day to avoid prolonged inactivity due to sitting. For those who are able bodied and reasonably healthy, you should not expect this to replace your usual cardiovascular equipment/routine. For that I have yet more equipment for that purpose. 5Exercise bikeAm using this mini bike for strengthening following hip replacement surgery. Is very easy to use and has multiple settings, according toyour needs. I am only interested in exercise, so don't pay attention to the numbers scanner. I just time myself or stop using when tiredor feel that I need to move on - not trying to win a contest or even beat my own average!. I have found it works better to be elevated inchair, so use a pillow or two in arm chair and can easily "pedal down" as recommended. The bike stays put and have not had a problemwith movement. A good investment in my health!5very happy with that purchasePurchased one of these for use in my outpatient physical therapy clinic approx 2 years ago, very happy with that purchase. Needed a 2nd one, purchased Dec 2017. Last week, they both broke, one right after the other. I suspect a patient attempted to adjust the resistance all the way up or all the way down on one of them, broke it, then went to the other one and did the exact same thing. One problem is that there are no numbers or lines on the adjustment dial; you just adjust it by the way it feels. So you can't track or set the amount of resistance. The knob will make approximately 5 complete revolutions, but no way of knowing where in the range of resistance you are when you look at the machine; must start turning the pedals and then adjust up or down as needed. Since the 2nd one purchased is still under 1-yr warranty, hopefully we can get a replacement unit. I don't know that I will replace the first one with the same device--we'll see what the customer service is like on the warrantied unit. 2VERY versatile!!I took a long time looking at the MagneTrainer and other mini bikes as well as the Exerpeutic bikes. I almost purchased the new Exerpeutic 500 until one person answered a question about the MagneTrainer. What we all can do with the MagneTrainer that cannot be done with any exercise bike is push the unit away using as a recumbent, draw in closer sitting in a higher chair using it as a traditional bike, and use it for arm strength. I can sit anywhere and use the MagneTrainer, in any chair, and not be stressed if the seat starts to hurt my tailbone. And when I'm done, it tucks away nicely. It is very quiet, very well built, and it took me ten minutes to assemble. It actually took me longer to inbox the unit. It's not that heavy at all.It does come with a long Velcro strap, which I have to use. I have laminate floors and if there is any trace of dust on the floor, the unit will slide. However, it is less likely to slide if it is pedaled in a downward movement. When you assemble your pedals, be very sure the pedals are on the correct side and they are tightened. In the manual, it does state that the company does not warranty if the threads get stripped.I am extremely happy with my purchase and I do recommend it to anyone. It is very comfortable to use, and if you think you can't get a good workout, think again. If you can get a good workout on a recumbent, you can get a good workout with the MagneTrainer, all from the comfort of a comfortable chair of your choosing :-)P.S. I ordered on Dec. 10, received on Dec. 12!! (Yes, I used free shipping!) 5Wonderful recovery tool!I use this as a hand bike for therapy reasons. It has proven to be a great tool in my recovery. I did add on the hand pedals that were offered separately. It is sturdy and doesn't feel as though it will fall apart on use. 5Arrived damaged; couldn't insert the adjustable leg, as ...Arrived damaged; couldn't insert the adjustable leg, as the plastic inner frame was warped and offset. Will try another one and see whether I can get one in undamaged condition. Then I will revise my review if warranted.Revised review: I have now used the replacement exerciser for a good two weeks and have to say that it totally does the job I purchased it for. I need some sort of cardio exercise after surgery and use the Magne Trainer for my arms, as I can't use my regular stationary bike for my legs for at least three months. Due to its solid weight, it doesn't move on my table and is quiet in motion (can watch the evening news while I exercise). The resistance is easily adjustable; I started pretty easy to get myself into the swing of things, and am now slowly adding more resistance. All in all, I'm quite satisfied :-)5Best Money SpentI LOVE this cycler. I originally bought it to go under my desk at work as I sat all day with not much exercise. After leaving my desk job for a full time on my feet gig, I started using it while watching tv at home. I absolutely love it. At home or in the office under a desk this thing is great. Best money spent. 5
