Customer Reviews

perfect for a rural Mail Carrier!I am a rural mail carrier and these are my number 1 glasses to use at work! they are great in low light when I am trying to read the mail in my LLV but also do a great job keeping my eyes protected from full on sunshine ! there is zero glare or reflection , even out of the peripheral . frame quality could be higher, but the lens quality can not be beat.....they do scratch , so be careful and they will last you a long time! 5Great inexpensive sunglasses!I used to wear expensive sunglasses, but after having one pair stolen and another broken, I had to find something cheaper. I tried several styles from several brands in the twenty dollar range, and the Flying Fisherman "Bristol" style is my favorite. They're a little on the small side, which fits me great without huge gaps at the temples like larger glasses do on my head. I think the shape/styling looks good, and the polarization is a must for driving and fishing. My original pair with smoke lenses from 2016 broke after two years so I bought a replacement pair, as well as a pair with the yellow lenses. The newer ones have the same fit and quality as my first one, so that's good. I'm not a fan of the yellow lenses but the smoke ones are perfect for me, and at twenty dollars instead of two hundred, I can deal with replacing them every few years. 5Have been purchasing these exact sunglasses for yearsAmazon shows I have ordered these 4 times, most orders I get several. This doesn't mean they dont hold up though. I like to leave a pair in each vehicle and one in the house. I like them so much I usually try and keep a few new pair on hand as I figured they would stop making these, its been a good 7-9 years and they are still around and still a fantastic price. Its the little things. The nose bridge has pads, like a silicone pad so its not hard plastic, the ear part too. I can wear all day and not feel a thing. They are very lightweight. The lenses pop out to clean. I have sat on these with no damage.I have the amber lenses, I tried them all but liked the amber the best. Anyone who tries my sunglasses wants polarized lenses after. All the colors looking through them, especially green, really pop! Everything is so clear with the deepest blue skies. Here in Phoenix they are a must to really enjoy the desert and avoid eye strain driving. They are not dark, I sometimes forget to take them off in well lit stores. Its the perfect color lens, polarized and UV blocked. As of right now they are $16 and some change. I cant say enough good things about these. I have a "cheaper" pair of Oakleys like these at $120. They are not even polarized, dont look as nice, cheaper build and make everything look dark. Once I found these I have purchased nothing but these every since.I lost a pair, had one swiped from my car and scratched a pair holding a heavy ladder to my chest when I had my glasses on my shirt. Plastic lenses seem to hold up fantastic in normal use but I have scratched a few pair over the years.I have two new pair yet from a 2/2017 order as of 8/2019. The pair I am using now does have some fine scratches. After a year or two at this price I just chuck em and open another pair.It really is a step up from the super cheap sunglasses but still super cheap. 5Good for driving in rain and fogI found the amber tint cuts through fog and rain better than gray and other color options. They're a necessity in Florida's driving rainstorms and seasonal morning fog. These glasses are polarized: I prefer polarized glasses for driving but some LCD panels aren't easily viewable with them. I can't easily see what's on my smartphone screen when I"m wearing them. I don't find that an issue because phone use isn't compatible with the inclement weather I purchased these glasses for. The frame is snug but not uncomfortably so. It's sturdy. If I somehow manage to break this pair I'd buy the same one again. 5Just Not Worth ItI was replacing a pair of discontinued Smith Optics sunglasses, and these look VERY similar. For some reason, I expected them to be comparable ... far from it. The frames are very light, as in flimsy. The lenses shade the light, but not enough. And as for polarizing, I could not tell the difference. A good polarizing lense should allow you to see into the water. These did not work on the river for me. I ll return them. At less than 1/5th the price of name brand, they re not worth what I paid. 1Good for drivingI bought these for driving at night, in the hopes that the color and polarization would cut down glare without making everything too dark. The polarization doesn't cut glare as much as I'd hoped, but maybe that's the nature of yellow glasses. Wearing them is still definitely better than not. The glasses are even better for driving in the rain, adding a lot of contrast when the road is all gray and misty from rain and spray from the other cars. Wearing these glasses made a recent several-hour drive through the rain much more bearable and less stressfil. They're comfortable, too. Definitely worth the price. 4Great sunglassesI've been using these sunglasses for 3 months, and I bought 2 pairs, and I'm very pleased with them. They fit nicely, and they are polarized. The only downside I can comment about is that the "lenses" are slightly imperfect, meaning they have very subtle waves in the glass... However this is VERY subtle and not at all noticeable when you're actually wearing them (it only stands out when you hold them at a slight distance and really look at them).Honestly these sunglasses are an excellent value. The nose piece in other glasses pulls out my hair if I rest them on my head, but this pair doesn't do that. They look really good on me, and I was worried they might be too small, but nope; perfect fit for a tall athletic guy. I recommend these sunglasses! 5Nice pair of shades - smaller than expectedFor the price, a great pair of shades. I use them for just about everything, but especially fly fishing in mountain streams where spotting the fish is critical. With the polarized lenses and the light color, these are perfect. They are great in all levels of sunlight. The reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are much smaller than I expected. They are small in the size of the actual lens, but also very small in the width and the way they shape to your face. I have a very average sized face, and every brand of glasses I've tried has fit with the standard pair. These are very tight, and the pressure from the arms on the side of my head caused a headache after 8 hours of use on the stream. However, fixing this is easy by heating up the bridge over the nose and expanding them slightly. Overall, great pair of shades if you don't mind them being a bit small. 4Very good for cyclingI use these glasses for cycling and am very happy. The amber lenses are great for lower light cloudy days, While you can spend far more on expensive glasses, these are a great deal. The lenses are great, the fit is perfect, and I like the smaller sense profile. My face isn't large and I really don't like the way large lenses look on me. 5Good value for polarized shades UPDATEDAs others have noted, they're on the small side, and the frames don't look they'd stand up to careless handling. But, they're lightweight and comfortable, and the polarized yellow/amber lenses seem to be good quality. For the price, I'm pleased.UPDATE: Just returned from an hour-long bike ride under overcast skies. Yellow/amber lenses really do enhance contrast. I'm sufficiently impressed to switch my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Still underwhelmed by their sturdiness but for the price they can't be beat. 5
